Apparently this sign started as directions to the ski facilities; chair lifts, T-bars, intermediates, etc., then distances to cities in Michigan (Grand Rapids 85 miles, Lansing 140 miles, and Detroit 182 miles) and other ski resorts, such as Big M 25 miles, Boyne 90 miles, Pine Mountain 325 miles, Vail, 1200 miles, Stowe 1350 miles were added later.
