The Frank and Rae Kramer House is significant as the home of a locally prominent banker, businessman and civic leader and for his wife, a businesswoman and civic leader. The Kramers owned a clothing and dry goods store in Gaylord. In 1893 Mr. Kramer, Earl Bolton and Sanford Buck organized Gaylord State Savings Bank. Mr. Kramer was also a member of the school board for twenty-one years, and active in the Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Pythias. Mrs. Kramer was an active member of the Red Cross, the Ostego County Board, Order of the Eastern Star, Wah Wah Soo Association and assisted in the organization of the Rainbow Girls and the Ostego County Health Committee. Mr. Kramer died at the age of 72 in 1928, and Mrs. Kramer passed away at the age of 92 in 1960.
