This was an interesting one to find. The picture of the plaque was missing from the Ontario Plaques web-site and I've looked a couple of times when driving through but couldn't find it. Today it was there, right where it was supposed to be, and the Ontario Plaques web-site now has a picture
Ailsa Craig, like several other communities in the area such as Parkhill, Thedford and Forest, owes its existence to the Grand Trunk Railway being extended from St Mary's to Sarnia (Point Edward) in 1858. Named after a small island off the coast of Scotland which I've seen but never visited (it's not far from Glasgow airport)
The plaque is located on the main street outside the old town hall, now a community centre appropriately called "Ye Olde Towne Hall"
