The Ohl family owned Republic Iron and Steel of Youngstown, Ohio. Edwin Ohl managed the New Castle office. He married one of the daughters of taylor John Bower, and built this house near others of the Bower family. Edwin later became president of both the United Iron and Steel Co. and the New Castle Portland Cement Co.
