Located on the beautiful Gorge waterway in the new Selkirk Waterfront. On the 31st. of May 1999 children from the Burnside Community Schools and the Pacific Montessori Society's Selkirk School placed their time capsules into the white concrete squares of the chessboard. These capsules hold personal messages and objects which are intended to give future generations a glimpse into the lives of these young people. The capsules are to be opened in 100 years, 2099. This time capsule was placed to commemorate the opening of the new Selkirk Waterfront development a new urban community revitalizing the old working harbor. Unfortunately vandals have been at work and graffiti'd the plaque with writing and stickers.
