Between 1949 and 1951, the Boy Scouts of America erected 195 Little Sisters of Liberty in 39 states as part of their Strengthen the Arm of Liberty campaign. Each 8'4" copper replica of the Statue of Liberty was made in Chicago, weighing 290 pounds and costing $350 plus freight. New Castle’s Little Sister of Liberty was erected by the Boy Scouts in 1951. The statue was restored in 2002 after being damaged by heavy winds.
