Travelers Rest is an early tavern and inn located about 6 miles east of Toccoa, Georgia. It was designated a National Historic Landmark on January 29, 1964.

Travelers Rest was built by Major Jesse Walton, soldier in the American Revolution and in conflicts with American Indians. In 1833 it was purchased by Devereaux Jarrett as part of his plantation. It is located very close to the site of the former Cherokee town Tugaloo.


There are tours for around $3.00 also check out this same spot in national register of historic places.
