The Tucson Public Library started out in the top floor of city hall in 1883. Andrew Carnegie gave Tucson a $25,000 grant which was used to build the first library building at 200 S 6th Street. It was designed by architect Henry Trost. The library stayed there till 1991 when, even with building several branch libraries, it just needed more room.
When the library moved out the Tucson Children's Museum moved in. They built a high wall around the building so you have to wait till it's open to see the building properly. The museum is also bursting at the seams so they may be moving. Here's hoping that another good owner will move in and keep the building
