Gen. J. D. Cox's Div. To Old Cross Keys
Maj. Gen. J. M. Schofield’s 23d A.C. having crossed the Chattahoochee July 8, 1864, remained near Isom’s Ferry until the 17th. On that day the Corp’s moved toward Sandy Springs (on Mt. Vernon Rd.). Hascall’s div. turned S (on Long Island Drive) to Mt. Paren Road.
Schofield, in person, with Cox’s div. passing Sandy Springs, turned S.E. at this point (on Johnson Bridge Rd.) & (via Chamblee Rd.) moved towards Nancy’s Creek & Old Cross Keys.
Late afternoon, Cox contacted Hascall’s div. at Burdett’s farm (Mt. Paren Rd.) & Dodge’s 16th A.C. approaching Old Cross Keys from Roswell.

Located on Johnson Ferry Rd at Mount Vernon Highway in Sandy Springs, east of Roswell Rd near the Sandy Springs Library. Parking is available.
Old Cross Keys is located in DeKalb Co. (N 33° 53.527 W 084° 19.540) where Johnson Ferry Rd and Ashford Dunwoody Dr. briefly join and then split again.
