This three story stone courthouse with a center clock tower was constructed 1902-1903 replacing an earlier 1858 courthouse which had replaced a log cabin 1846 building. This third courthouse, a Classical Revival structure was less controversial than the second Tudor Brick building which had a location and design arbitrarily chosen by the county judge. A plaque on the building gives details of its history.
