This is the second Montgomery County courthouse, replacing an earlier frame structure. The spectacular, castle-like, Richardsonian Romanesque style building, constructed of red Missouri sandstone and brick, has a forty foot clock tower. It was erected in 1890 at a cost of $100,000.
