MARKER TEXT: This early road from Olean to Kittanning followed the Catawba Path, formerly used by Five Nations war parties attacking the Catawbas of South Carolina. Near here it crossed the Indian path from Venango (Franklin) to Chinklacamoose (Clearfield).
This is a traditional blue and gold roadside marker located on US 322 near the intersection of Olean Road in Corsica. Portions of this road in Clarion County are called Olean Trail. In the Web Address below, we found an article on Indian Paths in Pennsylvania although the Olean Road is not specifically mentioned. There is also a book available in the LINKS below.
