Government Bridge - Davenport, IA - Truss Bridges on Waymarking.com

Located between the City of Davenport,IA and the island of Rock Island. Rock Island is a Federal arsenal, thus the name for the bridge. It carries two rail tracks on an upper deck with a roadway below for vehicular traffic. On the island end is one section that revolves to allow barges to move through the river lock that passes under the bridge.

This bridge has been placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
