Getting the information for this waymark was interesting. I began gathering information a couple of weeks ago.
When I first called the phone number on the payphone I got a message indicating that I should enter my number to send a page. It was weird because whoever heard of a payphone that you can page?! I called again a few days later and reached a man. I asked him if he was at the payphone but he said that he was using his cell phone. I repeated the number from the payphone and he confirmed it as his phone number.
I went back to the post office to double check the phone number. I believed that I had written it down incorrectly but I hadn't. The phone number on the pay phone was NOT the actual phone number. I dialed 611 to report the problem. The 611 operator generated a service ticket to have the phone repaired. The repair would be changing the slip of paper so it had the correct # on it. The operator said she wasn't allowed to give out the actual phone number.
Today, I went back to the post office to mail some stuff. I checked the phone number and it had not be fixed. Then it dawned on me... I could pay fifty cents and call my cell phone from the payphone and get the correct phone number from the caller id. It was one of those "duh" moments.
That's a long story for a payphone waymark!
Note: the phone number on the payphone was only one digit off from the real number.
