The current Kauhola Point Light was built in 1933 of reinforced concrete; the tower is 85' high. The light was alternating flashing red and green. The original 1933 metal structure on top the capped tower housed two Grouse Hinds 36' revolving aircraft beacons; one active and the other used as a backup. The light was automated in the 1950's and is now a Clear Mogel Bi-Post T-20 C-13 lamp.
There used to be a keeper's house, gasoline storage tank, paint locker, workshop, and a laundry house. Today the only building left is the tower, sans lantern room. You can still see the remains of some of the outbuildings on the property. The site is open, but the lighthouse is not. There are benchmarks and a cache at this site.
For a cool virtual 360* view from the Point, go to Baron Sekiya's cache site:

Thanks to Jake39 for bringing these links to my attention, and to add them to the waymark page!
The lighthouse is near the town of Kapaau, where there is a statue of King Kamehameha the Great. This statue is identical to the famous statue on the grounds of the Iolani Palace in Honolulu.
