Kirkham is an actual Boise National
Forest Campground, the hot springs are just a few steps away. Other NF camping
sites/areas are also available nearby. There is a $3 parking fee during the day
and nighttime closure from 10pm to 6am.

History of the Kirkham Hot
Spring courtesy of Boise National Forest interpretive sign:
Bands of Shoshone, Northern
Paiute, and Nez Perce Indians discovered the hot springs in this region and were
the first people to use them. Hot springs made good hunting areas because
the water's high mineral content attracted game such as deer, elk, and bighorn
sheep. Hot springs also provided for food preparations, bathing
opportunities, and some springs were regarded as important spiritual
sites.
