St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery and is the final resting place of many of the early pioneers in the area. Among those buried in the cemetery include Louis Blanchette, founder of St. Charles and Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, the first permanent settler of Chicago. The cemetery has 500-1000 graves and is an active cemetery operated by the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
