This 1,100 pound anchor was removed from the U-505. The anchor is a Hall Stockless type anchor designed to dig into mud and sand. The anchor was attached to 82.2 fathoms, nearly 500 feet, of anchor chain. The anchor is located in the exit area for the U-505 exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. The coordinates listed are for the main entrance to the museum.
