This beautiful State Capitol was constructed with Sandstone from a local quarry, owned by Abe Curry, the founder of Carson City. The original building was cruciform in shape with an octagonal dome. In 1906 and octagonal annex was added at the rear and the north and south wings were expanded in 1915, using the same sandstone.
The interior features Alaskan marble floor and French crystal windows. Legislative and Judicial functions have moved to other buildings. The Capitol still houses the Governor's offices and historical exhibits.
