The Great Atlantic & Western started train service to Kent, Ohio in 1863. This depot was built in 1875 to serve Great Atlantic & Western. The depot was designed and built by Marvin Kent who became the namesake of the town. Marvin Kent is buried in a cemetary within minutes of the town he founded and the railroad depot he used to build this town.
In 1971 the Kent Historical Society was formed to save the depot from destruction. KHS still occupies a portion of the depot which is now shared with the Pufferbelly Ltd Restaurant. The depot is in good shape and maintains its original external architecture.
