Bear Trap Cave is a part of a lava tube which can be traced for almost 15 miles. Bear Trap lava tube probably originated from Wildhorse Corral along the Great Rift. Approximately 15,000 years old, Bear Trap Cave is older than the Wapi flow (2270 years old) and the Craters of the Moon flow (as young as 2070 years old).
Bear Trap Cave is located just west of the Minidoka/Aroc Road north of Minidoka. The road is in reasonably good shape to Bear Trap Cave. Travel beyond Bear Trap Cave is only recommended in high-clearance vehicles.
