The National Park Inn was moved to its present location in 1920, and was rebuilt in 1926 when a fire destroyed much of the building. It is the smaller of Mt. Rainier National Park's two lodges.

The inn has 25 rooms and a full service restaurant and gift shop. A cozy lounge for overnight guests features an oversized stone fireplace. It's a great home base for your hiking and climbing adventures in the park, or even as a nice spot for a relaxing weekend get-away.

During the winter cross-country skis and snow shoes can be rented and there are ranger lead outings on the weekends. The inn stays open year round, unlike its more famous cousin, Paradise Inn, further up the road.

Connected to the inn is a 1911 log cabin that serves as a general store for the Longmire area. Longmire is the historic administrative district for the park and many of its buildings are on the National Historic Register. Next to the inn you'll find a historic service station, the Park museum, and the old administrative building, now the Wilderness Information Center.
