The Elm School was built in 1913 as a two-story subscription high school in the small community of Elm, Missouri. The second story was destroyed in a storm in the 1930's and the school was repaired as one-room elementary school. The building continued to serve as a school until about 1965. The building then served in various roles including a community center. In mid-1990's the building was move about 20 miles east to Warrensburg where it was restored as a one room school house on the grounds of the Johnson County Historical Society museum.
