BBC Radio Cumbria main office is here at Carlisle. Satellite studios in Barrow, Kendal and Whitehaven that serve the main population centres of Cumbria outside Carlisle, with additional small studios in Keswick and at Brockhole near Ambleside. Apart from national radio, this is worth listening to for local news and accurate weather forecasting. Frequencies 95.6FM, 96.1FM and 104.1FM The breakfast time radio broadcast is a great way to start the day, with information on local road conditions, and the 'weather docket' is a ribald exchange with the Met. office over in Newcastle. Listen out for Met. man Mooney or Trai Anfield saying '100m or less in hill fog'.
As Cumbria is a sheep farming county, Radio Cumbria broadcast a list of lambs (lamb bank) for adoption by other farmers. Listeners know all about texel cross lambs for 2 months.
There is also an outreach bus, packed with technology bringing radio broadcasting and the internet to the community.
