The old jail was built in 1897 and in use until 1980. It is now a museum and tours can be arranged through the Sheriff's Office.

Probably the most imfamous prisoner was Marshall Ratliff, The Santa Claus Bank Robber. The Wikipedia web site has the most complete story of the robbery & lynching of Ratliff.

There is a City Marker located across the street marking the spot where Ratliff was hung.
