Not long ago, I and many others used to drive a curvy Williamson Road to cross this increasingly rickety bridge. There wasn't enough room for two-way traffic so cars had to wait on opposite sides while either east or west traffic went over. Increasing the difficulty was the fact that there were railroad crossings on either side of the bridge! The ever-increasing traffic to the nearby Wal-Mart inspired this bridge to be bypassed altogether; the road was straigtened out and a plain concrete bridge was constructed. I really don't know if there are plans to take out the orphaned bridge or not, it may be too expensive. In the meantime, the bridge sits as a reminder of the old way of getting to and from town.
