My Wife and I decided to go for a visted to Mt Etna Caves National Park which is about 30kms North of Rockhampton. I thought while I was there I would grab the trig on top of Mt Etna which I seen on a topo map. After driving around for a while looking a way to get close to Mt Etna, we found a small dirt road which lead to a walking track at the bottom. At this point I started to think this was going to be easy. So off we went up the track only to get 2/3 of the way up. From that point the track started on its way back down the otherside of the Mountain to the bat caves. Having a look up the mountain it only looked like 10m to the top through the spider infected very thick scrub. I mean spider infected. All the way up I had to to hold a long stick out in front of me to knock down the webs. They were just everywhere. So off I went with stick in hand, battling my way to the top. Well that 10m turn into about 50m but I got there. So I started looking for the survey maker around the trig and under it. I never found it. The place was just too over grown to find it. I put the GPS on one of the cross members for the photo. I made my way back down to my wife and kept on going to the bat caves with no bats. We could smell them. Well I had a good time finding this trig and my wife enjoyed the walk. Access road location -23 09.63636 150 27.43608
