Worksop Castle is a stone motte and bailey fortress, founded by William de Lovetot. The large platform is partly enclosed by a deep ditch, with a steep slope to the River Ryton giving defence to the north. Of the layout and history nothing is known for certain, with only the motte and remnants of other earthworks remaining.
