The bust of Chopin sits on a granite pedestal base with two bronze plaques. The base tapers from 5' at the bottom to 3' at the top. The plaque near the top of the base reads: "Chopin born in Poland 1810-1849." The lower plaque reads: "Presented to the city of Buffalo by Chopin Singing Society June 1925." The bust was sculpted by Joseph C. Mazur.
Chopin is widely regarded as one of the most famous, influential and prolific composers for piano. He wrote over 230 works, predominantly for solo piano, but also a small number of piano ensembles with instruments.
