The St Lucia Estuary is a very popular fishing spot. Anglers
usually catch Shad, Spotted Grunter, Square Tail Kob and Pompona. The bigger
fish usually wait just past the breakers during high-tide waiting for food to be
washed down the Estuary and into the sea. One will need a general fishing permit
to fish in the area, which is obtainable from the St Lucia reception area.
Please be careful of fishing near the Estuary's edge as there
are many crocodiles and hippos in the water, do not stand within a few meters of
the waterline or you may be the one that will be on the plate tonight.
