Rocheport is a small Missouri River town which is listed in its entirety as an historic district.

Rocheport was founded in 1825. The town had a deep sheltered cove along the Missouri River to serve as a river port. The town thrived with the growth of steamboat travel along the river.
During the Civil War due to its location along the river, the town had several guerrilla raids from both sides. The town was known for its strong Southern sentiments but was also known as an important site for the "underground railroad".
After the Civil War, Rocheport thrived as a business center with the expansion of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad into town in 1892-1893. The only tunnel on the rail line was constructed just west of Rocheport.
Some of the town's historic buildings were destroyed in fires in both 1892 and 1922. The town is now a quaint town with many bed and breakfasts and small shops. The town is near some of the most scenic portions of the Katy Trail.
