This giant chess set and the checkers set next to it are located on the second floor of the Center House in Seattle Center. The pawn shown close up in a gallery photo is about 24" high. Coordinates are for the main entrance to the Center House. To reach the boards, enter the building and proceed across the building to the central stairs (or glass elevator) on the far side. Go up the stairs and to your left will be a couple of tables and the 2 board games and their pieces.
The Center House is essentially a giant food court. Around the perimeter of the main floor are restaurants and kiosks and then in the center are seating areas and entertainment stages. The lower floor houses the Seattle Children's Museum. The great thing about the top floor is that most people don't bother to go up there because all of the action is down below. However, it's much quieter and less crowded up there and you can play a game of chess after you finish your lunch.
