The lighthouse is the only remaining part of the swimming pool complex that was open in Hershey, PA from 1929 to 1967. The pool was opened in July 1929 (replacing the first pool in Hershey Park). 1967 was the last season -- 38 years of service. During the winter of 1972, the bathhouses were torn down and the swimming pool filled in.
The lighthouse was reconditioned and relandscaped this spring (2005), but is not open to the public. To provide a perspective on the heighth of the lighthouse, the doorway is 4 feet tall. Old timers tell me that the original color was sand, not the current white.
