Shaswar Jala was born in Sulaymaniyah in 1947. He was a political activist and journalist. He co-founded the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and was influential in the organization of Kurd underground resistance media in the 70's. He perished in combat in 1978.
This statue unusually stands in the middle of a pound, showing him with informal daily clothes. In fact is more like a bust, placed in a pyramidal plinth formed by five levels of stone. The scale seems to be around 1,5x real life.
