The memorial is a granite stone engraved with the Marine Corps seal and a landscape scene. The inscription reads: "Dedicated to all the men and women who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy personnel who served with them 1939-1946." Below that, the base lists all special Marine Corps units of WWII: defense battalions of antiaircraft and artillery, airdrome battalions, barrage balloon squadrons, glider group, parachute battalions, and raider battalions. A satellite pedestal is engraved with a map of the islands fought for in the South Pacific and includes a bronze plaque of the Marine Corps seal.
