[DE] "Das in Richtung Ulm führende Stadttor wurde 1318 erstmals "Niederes Tor" genannt und später in Anlehnung an die benachbarte Liebfrauenkirche als "Frauentor" bezeichnet.

1747-1751 wurde das Frauentor zum Kriminalgefängnis ausgebaut. Von 1837 bis 1892 wurde es als Oberamtsgefängnis weitergeführt. Der Innenausbau wurde durch einen Brand im Jahr 1982 vollständig zerstört. Bei diesem Brand kamen auch drei Feuerwehrmänner um ihr Leben. Das Frauentor ist 35,5 Meter hoch."
