The Blue Spring Lake Segment of the Ice Age National Trail is hilly and densely forested. Though this section lacks major mountaineering climbs it rolls along up and down and is a good workout for hikers and trail runners and requires moderate skill and fitness levels. The section begins at Oak Opening hardwood forest and continues on through the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Parking is at the Emma Carlin Trailhead, just to the southeast. Note that you must pay to park here.
