The town clock in Erbil is known as Tawerî Katjmêr, and can be found in the wide square in front of the gate of the citadel (an UNESCO World Heritage Site).
It was built in the early 19th century, during the final stage of Ottoman domination. It was inspired in the English Big Ben.
In 2011 it went under works of renovation and the clock mechanism was replaced with a new one imported from China.
The clock displays Roman numerals and black hands, with a white background. There is a flowerish decoration.
