The very small town of Grafton, Nebraska, population 167, welcomes us with a large patriotic sign and the Motto, "The Great Life" painted on the east end of a shed at the east edge of town. The motto may be a variation of the Nebraska state motto, "The Good Life". The long side of the building is decorated with a beautiful mural painted by G. Holdren, who presumably did the welcome sign also. Grafton was founded as a station on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad and is probably named for Grafton, Massachusetts.
