The white-painted wooden posts elevate the ~40cm cast bell about 4m off the ground, under a corrugated iron roof. From a distance it looks like a dove cote. The vertical posts and four angled stays/props are in a rectangular concrete slab, to the rear of the former Anglican Church of Motupiko. A cast pulley wheel is attached to the side of the axle-suspended bell, with a short piece of rope remaining on the pulley. In quite good condition for the church being built in the 1890's.
"This Historic Church and Cemetery is now in the private ownership of Quinneys Bush. Anyone is welcome to enter the grounds to tend to the graves of their loved ones. The church is available for Christian services, weddings and funerals." [ex-street-side Anglican sign] Built in 1897 - by the sign.
While it may be sad that the church was sold in 2019 to the adventure camp directly over the road, as the sign says, respectful visitors are welcome, and the church and Belfry have been kept in good condition.
