Located near the larger Red Barn historical marker is this smaller one giving a brief history of the Red Barn.
Marker Inscription:
The Brighton Red Barn, built by the U.S. Civilian Conservation Corps-Indian Division in 1941, marked the beginning of the Seminole cattle industry. The first Seminole Indian cowboys kept their horses a saddles here and hay was stored in a loft above. The Red Barn also served as the social center for the Brighton community and an informal setting for discussion among Seminoles about creation of a Tribal government. The Red Barn was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
