"The Royal Courtyard is located in front of the Palace of Versailles, in a row of three courtyards, before the Marble Courtyard and behind the Cour d'Honneur, from which it is separated by the Royal Gate. It is bordered to the north by the Gabriel Wing and to the south by the Dufour Pavilion.
The royal courtyard is home to the Gabriel Wing, a building designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, Louis XV's favorite architect, who also designed the Petit Trianon. The Dufour Pavilion opposite it was built much later, in the 19th century during the Restoration. With their neoclassical style, they are a complete departure from the Ministers' Wings and the original palace, and bear witness to the constant construction work that Versailles had been since Louis XIV came to power."
