"After the official reception on July 18, the civil governor, mayor of the city, president of the Provincial Council and members of the Municipal Corporation and the local Council went to the neighborhoods of Peliquín, La Lonia and Velle, to inaugurate various municipal works.

In Peliquín, the works for access to the neighborhood and other improvements to the roads were opened to the public, with a visit to the old chapel of San Lázaro, with the highest provincial authority promising the necessary financial assistance to carry out the completion projects.

The entrances and public square were then inaugurated in La Lonia, a project that was carried out by the municipality and the Technical Services. Afterwards, the delegation moved to Velle to inaugurate the access road from El Salto to the Centre for Subnormals under construction, whose works were also visited.

The value of the works inaugurated represents an investment of more than two million pesetas, apart from donations of land and personal contributions from the residents.

The authorities were received in Peliquín by the entire town, holding a cordial dialogue with the provincial top authority and his companions. Later, in La Lonia, the entire neighbourhood awaited the official delegation. The mayor of the city was presented with a delicate gift by a little girl. After twelve o'clock, the Orense Music Band offered its Sunday concert there, in the newly inaugurated public square.

All the residents of these neighbourhoods of Ourense welcomed the presence of the illustrious visitors with lively displays of sympathy and affection.
