Fellhorn is a ski-area near Oberstdorf which straddles the German/Austrian border in the Alps. It's named after the principal mountain towering above the slopes.

This ski area calls itself "das Höchste" or "the highest". What this means is that the area is the highest in the Allgäu region of Germany which includes the southwest corner of Bavaria and the southeast corner of Baden-Württemberg. Fellhorn has 20 km of groomed trails. There are 18 numbered ski trails. There are 4 gondolas, 5 chair lifts, and and 5 t-bar lifts. The newest addition is the Fellhornbahn II which is a 6 seater gondola which brings skiers in a steady stream from the main parking lot to the Fellhornbahn Mittelstation. It relieves the older Fellhornbahn I which has a high capacity compartment but requires riders to wait for specific times to ride up/down. The peak station is at 1967 m altitude.
There are 3 restaurants on the slopes and 3 mountain huts which also serve food. You can rent ski equipment at the base gondola station.
Fellhorn is the closest well-developed ski resort to the city of Stuttgart and is about 2.5 hours by car away.
The closest international airport is at Friedrichshafen (FDH) about 120 km away.
The german rail network also services the town of Oberstdorf.
If you stay at a hotel in Oberstdorf, chances are you will receive a free ski pass. Don't miss this great bargain.
There is a ski bus from Oberstdorf which is free if you ride with your ski equipment.
Otherwise, if you drive, you will need to pay for parking at the resort lot. If you are paying for parking at your hotel, you might want to check with them to see if you can get a free parkpass for the lot.
The area is also beautiful in Summer and the gondolas are open to carry visitors to the top of the mountain.
