The Richard Childress Racing Museum is located on Business Route 52 in Welcome, North Carolina. On display are over 40 racecars including several of the famed Black #3 Goodwrench Chevrolets that were driven by the late Dale Earnhardt. One of the most famous cars on display is known as RCR Chassis #34. It was this car that carried Dale Earnhardt to victory in the 1998 Daytona 500. Also on display is RCR Chassis # 70, which was supposed to be a Black #3 and driven by Dale Earnhardt at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in March 2001, but following Earnhardt’s death at Daytona this vehicle was painted white and bore the number 29. This car carried Kevin Harvick to victory at Atlanta, just 4-weeks after the death of Dale Earnhardt.
Other displays include the GM Goodwrench Transporter, cars that were driven by Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer and a number of special paint schemes that were run in The Winston All-Star Race.
