This tank is visible from SR1004, about two miles northwest of the intersection with Shotwell Road. The area is now served by a county-wide water system, so this tank may not be in use.
NEARBY: At the public parking area of Clemmons Educational State Forest, there is a great attraction for kids: The cabin of a lookout tower is mounted about 10 feet off the ground, and is accessible with a stairway. There also are displays about trees and forestry.
The office and Ranger Station is at N35 40.760, W78 29.220.
Summer hours: 9-5 TUE-FRI. 11-6 SAT-SUN. Closed in winter.
