Gramado is a most interesting town. First some history...

Gramado is a mountain resort town in Brazil’s southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul. Influenced by 19th-century German settlers, the town has a Bavarian feel with Alpine chalets, chocolatiers and artisan shops. Gramado is also known for its Christmas light displays and for hydrangea blooms in spring. Lago Negro offers boat rentals and forest walks, while the Serra Gaúcha mountains have hiking and climbing trails.

Another event people look forward to is the Nataz Luz and Tannenbaumfest [there's that German thing!] where local Gramado business owners compete to create the most beautiful Christmas tree in the city. The trees are placed in the Avenida Borges de Medeiros for everyone to see. The decorated trees are evaluated by a panel of judges, and the winners are announced at an awarding ceremony in December. The trees are left on display until the end of the Natal Luz. Natal Luz runs from mid November until mid January every year, so that is the best time to view this spot. This webcam is at the intersection of Av. das Hortênsias and Av. Borges de Medeiros and during the season will highlight one of the winning Christmas trees.
