This Citizen Memorial is located near the Luxembourg American Cemetery in Hamm, Luxembourg. The monument honours the centennial of what would have been Dwight D. Eisenhower's birthday.
Born in 1890, "Ike" was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force during World War II and spearheaded the North African and D-Day campaigns. After the war he was elected President serving from 1953 to 1961. He passed away on March 28, 1969.
The road in front of the monument is named Rue Dwight David Eisenhower in his honour as well.
