Several Medieval cannons can be seen at Rasnov fortress. They are very simply made, no decorations, letters or anything else.

Râsnov Fortress were part of a defending system of the Transylvanian places that were exposed to invaders’ attacks.

The fortress, located on top of a mountain, is part of a refuge for the inhabitants of the Transylvanian villages who were exposed to invasions from outside.
The invading armies came from the Bran Pass and passed through Râsnov on their way to Brasov and other parts of the Burzenland region.

They could be forced to be in the fortress for a long time and therefore there are various buildings within the large, thick walls so that one could manage everyday life.
Another larger area is surrounded by high walls, here there is grass and it has been intended for cattle. A small chapel has also been placed here, but only a foundation remains.

Despite the fortress's construction and location, it has been besieged twice.
The first time was in 1421 when the fortress was besieged by an Ottoman army.
The second time was in 1612 when it fell due to the lack of water. Enemy troops had discovered the path leading to a secret spring and cut off the way there.
To overcome this weakness, a 146-meter-deep well was dug between 1623 and 1642.

The fortress is currently being restored.
However, access to the area is free, except for the inner part of the fortress, which is the part that is being restored.
