"The Tycho Brahe well on Tycho Brahe's place, opposite Jacob Hansen's house, was set up in 1927.
The well was designed by Gustaf W Widmark. The celestial globe is of bronze, the pedestal of sandstone and the well of concrete. The constellations are made by Astrid Aagesen, the four archangels by Hugo Gehlin.
On three sides are Latin mottos, used by Tycho Brahe (1540-1601):
Dum tempus habemus operemus (Let us work while we have time),
Nec fasces nec Opes sola Artis Sceptra perennant (Not power and riches only the dominion of art endures)
and Non haberi sed esse (Not considered for anyone but being)." (

When the Tycho Brahe Well was inaugurated, it caused quite a bit of indignation in Sweden, as it was considered very inappropriate to joke like that with a famous astronomer like Tycho Brahe.
It turned out that several people who had participated in the process of getting the Tycho Brahe Well approved and built were themselves portrayed in the sculpture. The maiden looks like sculptor Astrid Aagese and CB Hallengren, who had been an opponent of the project, is the archer with the deadly arrows.
